The Reality From out West

Where in the hell have I been...randomness for ya

For all two of all ya’ll wondering where I been, the man is back (I’ll never call myself “The Kid”. I’m grown). Recently I’ve been going through a lot of bullshit, which nearly persuaded me to move out of the state I love and have spent most of my life in. As it appears, I’ll be holding down the 562 (Long Beach) a little while longer. Another couple weeks like the past one however, and I will be setting up shop OT in the town Lebron built (the original one), therefore, the people of Akron better hope I find peace and happiness in the LB.  Anywayz, enough about me, time for some more about me. I had several blogs I wanted to write, but my lack of focus has kept me from completing them. To make up for that, I figured I’d drop another one of those random ass blogs that covers a wide array of topics.

“Why when niggas from the west wear dickies it’s too bangin, but when other out-of- towners  do it it’s a fashion statement/ Why Djs out here say they support the west/ bump us on hump day but chump us out the rest”
-Mitchy Slick “Co-operation”

So in my absent minded absence and Meka’s rare absence for a couple days, J-23 took a break from doing everything that needs to be done that Shake isn’t responsible for and started doing more blogs. His blogs were mainly dedicated to videos, two of the aforementioned blogs were west coast specific. The first featured a wide spectrum of artists, from King Tee, to Pharcyde, to Spice 1 (you can check that blog here) the other was videos from the oft-forgotten legend Ice Cube (check that here). In other west coast news, Strong Arm Steady dropped “Deep Hearted” this Tuesday, and I hate to admit it, but I don’t really have plans of buying it. See, like everything else, I got the album early. This wasn’t an album, shit  it wasn’t even a best of mixtape. It was more like a “Worst of” mixtape, and not in the same manner that Mood Muzik was. This is bad. With all the material these cats did, if they were gonna go back and get shit to put on the CD, I can think of a lot better shit they did. I guess they went back and got old shit in the first place because they figure cats in other regions may not have had easy access to songs we’ve been hearing out here in the west coast mixtapes, but this definitely isn’t worth copping, and it hurts me to say that. Mitchy Slick doesn’t make enough appearances (I feared this would happen), Phil the Agony seems Lil Wayne-lazy, and Krondon… he showed up physically, but not lyrically. They’re all capable of better. Add in the fact Chace Infinite, whose probably made more appearances with Strong Arm Steady than Mitchy Slick, whose one of the dopest LYRICISTS out right now on ANY COAST, makes one less appearance than Juvenile on the album (which equals one guest spot for Juvie, none for Chace), and this album is definitely lacking. It makes me wonder what things would be like if they never left Xzibit’s Open Bar. Then again he never released the Golden State project (which was him, Ras Kass, and Saafir…speaking of which, I’m wondering if Xzibit and Ras Kass are even cool anymore, considering X’s Game feature…) All of this, and the fact that people actually want to see it is forcing me to bring back my Friday shit. “West Coast Future Friday’s” in 3 weeks, hit the MySpace , my email, or hit me with a pm here on hiphopdx with info on artists, I already know who I want to cover the first week. It’s gonna be someone I was supposed to do before I stopped it last time, I’m not gonna say the name,  but to dude who put me up on this cat and requested him several times…just know, 3 weeks, I’m on it fam.

Madden Football really doesn’t care for hip hop. Late last week, I bought “Madden 08” for the second time. Originally, I bought it for PS3. I had heard the PS3 version was running at half the frames per second that the 360 version was running at…but ehh, who cares right? Well, I got a Xbox 360 again (hit up Longbeachzking on Xbox Live, get ya ass whooped), and when I did, I decided to try out Madden….WOW. It’s a HUGE difference. I don’t know what the fuck I was playing before. Anywayz, back to the subject. So I seen before that two of my favorite artists had landed spots on the soundtrack, Murs and Brother Ali.  YES…give these dudes some damn props. Madden football would give these cats a chance to get their music to the masses who would have never heard of them on the radio. All I can say now is….WOW. First of all, Murs’ track on Madden is “Dreadlocks”. Originally I complained about the song when I first heard it. Yea I know, I was on some bitch fan shit “Oh, this doesn’t sound like what he normally does” but as I listened to others, I realized “well, he is kicking knowledge about dreads…” The problem is Murs is a huge gamer…but would he have gotten on the Madden soundtrack had it not been for the Hyphy-esque beat by Rick Rock on “Dreadlocks”? I seriously doubt it. Now that’s just my opinion, but I felt that way even more when I seen Zion I and Grouch made it on the soundtrack too, but the song they got on with featured Mistah Fab. Maybe the people at EA just have a thing for Hyphy. They don’t really have issues with hip hop do they? I saved the worst for last. Brother Ali’s track “Whatcha Got” made it on the soundtrack. He doesn’t have a hyphy beat or artist featured on the track, however, the sample Ant used which said “going out to Scott La Rock” was removed. WTF? Was this really necessary? Not only am I upset at EA about this, but I’m sure they didn’t just have someone at their offices edit the track, so Ant must have had to do this. WHY? The man lost his life trying to keep the peace, and now he can’t even get his name mentioned on a Madden video game? That’s fucked up.

So yesterday while everyone was excited about finding the clean copy of Kanye’s album, I had the dirty version. HA! Not only do I go by the aliases Brillyance, Brillyance Star, and Longbeachzking, I’m also the Bootleg King. Yes, yes, yes, I’m Jack Sparrow of the hood. I don’t dress up as a pirate for Halloween, cuz I’m a pirate ever day. My opinion on the album? It’s dope. Truthfully, I don’t see 50 out doing this, plain and simple. For him to beat this album, he’d have to beat “Get Rich or Die Trying”…and with the songs I’ve already heard from him, it’s not gonna happen bruh. Truthfully, I’ve been sitting on “Curtis” for awhile now, I just haven’t cared to listen to it. Unless the first track on the album is the best song ever in hip hop history, and he continuously out does each song back to back to back, to the end of the album (excluded his whack ass singles), I don’t see it being a good album. Sales wise? Well let’s just say I’m pretty sure come September 11th, a big chunk of 50’s vitamin water cake is gonna vanish, and not for taxes to the government either. It’s funny how when asked about him VS Kanye, or him VS Lil Wayne, 50 brings up sales, but yet and still, he doesn’t give Oprah her props, and she has one of the biggest followings out of everybody in everything PERIOD. I guess number of fans is only important when it comes to 50 and somebody obviously more talented them him. (yea, I said it, ‘Ye and Wayne are better than dude, face it. While “POTD” and “GRODT” were definitely dope, what has he done lately? And if you don’t know what both of those acronyms stand for, and you’re a so-called 50 fan, get off his dick, cuz you don’t even know his good music.) Truthfully, I’m thinking right now Kanye’s album is better than Common’s. That’s what I’m saying now, let’s see if it has staying power. Talib’s album had vanished for awhile, but I’ve been listening to it again now, and it’s still dope. Classic….NO! I’m not really feeling “Drunken Hot Girls” or “Stronger” but I think we (real hip hop fans) need to stop judging albums on a scale of garbage…classic. There is a in between. This album is closer to classic, but not that close. I’d give it a 4.25 out of 5. (ha, J-23 said he couldn’t do that in a review…well I can).

Next week in a lot of people’s eyes I’m gonna cross the line. I gotta holler at my dude Mav of the JUICE (Just Us Intentionally Changing Everything…a crew I’m apart of ) for some help on something, he normally helps me when I take it where I’m gonna take it, but I’ve never gone this far. This goes to show how much I really don’t give a fuck. I wanna say so bad what I’m gonna do, but I can’t. It seems like such the obvious thing to do, I’m surprised nobody has ever took it here, oh well, I’m used to starting some shit. I’ve already ran it by some people, some laughed, one said it was going too far…oh well. Everyday people upset others over bullshit, if anyone is offended by me, I feel it’s worth it. I’ll apologize now, cuz I won’t next week.

On that note, I’m out. Somobe’s “Great Communication” drops September 18th. I’ll have more info on how you can purchase that before it drops. In the mean time, PEACE!

Emo+Hip Hop...GTFOH

First and foremost I don’t really think anybody got the purpose of that blog on Lil Wayne yesterday. While I do think dude has gotten lazy, I really don’t give two shits about him. Actually, the only reason I wrote that blog (which I damn near wrote in my sleep upside down while finishing a season game of “Madden 08) was to counter the blog I had written a little over midnight about the human body, and the fact it wasn’t designed to eat meat. ( Check that here) Dude is normally not important enough to me for me to write about, especially when there’s 400 other Lil Wayne blogs, but I had to do something for the kids who wouldn’t be able to understand (or just don’t care, I mean…this is a hip hop site, I can’t blame them for not wanting to see that here) for anything educational. While dude may be “the hottest rapper” out right now, our continuing coverage of “Lil Wayne News” is just prolonging the inevitable. But hey…it’s whatever. Back to good music…

“Hey yo man, how you doing? How you been? Just been making it cool to rap about love again,”
Slug “Give Me”

See, ever since Common went hippie (hippies are dope) on us post-Badu-pussy, everybody swears he’s the first rapper to rap about love often. Me personally, I don’t really like saying someone was the “first” to do anything, cuz at the age of 24, there will always be a 34 year old to come out the cut and say “What you talking about? So and so did that way back in the day. You youngins…” While I may not know who jumped the whole thing off, I know prior to Ms. Badu’s “adjustment” to Mr. Lynn, Slug of Atmosphere had been bringing the borderline-emo shit to the table. Speaking about love/relationships/sex on at least 2/3 of every album, Atmosphere makes music for that guy that tells his friends he had sex with two chicks yesterday, and then goes home and calls a chick to tell her he loves her, only to get played and feel stupid. (If you don’t recognize him, it’s probably you…you know you only talk to one girl...stop fronting) An, Atmosphere “love” song is far different from a Common “love” song.  While Common makes the songs that will have your girl holding your hand and smiling, Atmosphere makes the songs that will have your girl wondering what the hell is going on in your head. The fact of the matter is, (or at least I believe) Atmosphere’s music deals more with the reality of relationships between the opposite sex, not the” powder puff make believe everybody will have someone to love them for eternity” type of love songs you hear on the radio. While Com may say in his song how he found that special lady and he wants to make her happy, Slug will talk about the chick he does everything for that makes him feel like shit. You’ll probably only get the situation from that first song once or twice in your life, but the situation from the second song will more than likely come more often. (Especially when you consider this) I’m not gonna debate which song is better, I believe the real questions is will there ever be balance between the two in the mainstream eyes?

Fuck no! That’s the only way I could answer that question. In all reality, comparing an Atmosphere love song to a Common love song is like comparing Ras Kass’ “Nature of the Threat” to Nas’ “I Know I Can”. One is simplistic, up-beat, and cheery, the other is dark, detailed, and sometimes, to some people, hard to accept as reality. While some may argue how REAL an Atmosphere love song isn’t (with the occasional drug references and mentions of suicide), or Ras’ “Nature of the Threat” (Where Ras gives a history lesson which can be roughly translated into “white people are evil”), they can’t argue that it’s pretty obvious neither were made with intentions of being in the “Top 4 at 4” on your local radio station. Besides, people are already complaining that every song doesn’t have to be serious, and I’ve heard people attempt to tell me Little Brother is boring, so if they don’t want to deal with the reality LB brings, they damn sure aren't ready for Atmosphere.

So I guess it’s the artists fault, right? That’s too bad, cuz in between “Super soaking dat hoe” every now and then I think it’d be pretty dope to hear some Atmosphere on the radio. (Not that I listen to the radio…thank god for my Zune)

Brillyance's Lil Wayne Blog....

Oops, looks like I came early….this doesn’t happen often.

In High School, I was somewhat popular. In my first two years high school out here in Long Beach, Everybody knew me. The football players were cool with me cuz most of us played sports prior to high school, and they knew had it not been for practice during the summer ( We’re talking about practice? Practice? I was too busy chasing females and partying) I’d be on the football field. The basketball players were cool with me because most of us went to the same middle school, and played basketball together in other leagues. The soccer and baseball players were cool with me because I was one few black people that didn’t use the word “donkey” when describing them. The project kids loved me because I kept alcohol on me, the scholarly muthafuckas knew I had the same, if not better grades, and chicks loved because I could keep a secret (lol), didn’t brag about shit, and wasn’t look at their ass all the time when I was standing behind them. My last year (I only spent 3 years in high school, I dropped out 11th grade, then came back and grinded hard to finish in the last year) in high school in Florida I was FAR more popular. The Cali kid in Florida…please, automatic pass. The shit never went to my head though. I never made fun of people who weren’t as popular. I never dissed people for being “different”. That just wasn’t me. I always gave people the benefit of the doubt. Yea, he doesn’t do the shit we do, but I bet, he does something none of us can do, and he does it well. Sometimes, you get tired of giving people the benefit of the doubt though…..

“I know The game is crazy, it’s more crazy than it’s ever been, I’m married to that crazy bitch, call me Kevin Federlin”
-Lil Wayne “I’m Me”

Truthfully, I can’t tell you why I listened to the Carter 2. I fucked with Cash Money for about 3 seconds when they first hit the scene. “Ha” was hella, whack, I don’t care if Jay Z thought it was cool enough to hop on the remix. Cash Money was fresh off the streets, so they dealt more with the reality of the hood more than most rappers who were glamorizing shit, and acting like they ran shit  when the only time they seen the street is when they were forced to lay on it during robberies. The respect didn’t last when they started going heavy on the bling shit with the success of “Bling, Bling”. I’m guessing I fucked with the “Carter 2” because at the time, T.I. was doing his thing. “I’m Serious” “Trap Muzik” and “Urban Legend” were all pretty dope. I guess I figured I’d give Wayne a shot in an attempt to find some new dope shit from the south, plus, I figured he might have something to say post-katrina. I was pleasantly surprised. While there wasn’t much commentary on the subject of Katrina, he definitely stepped his game up. He came off as a young veteran aged by the game, in a position to enjoy himself, yet still letting you know he wasn’t fucking around. He jumped the whole thing off hard with the first track “Tha Mobb”. He stepped his metaphor and simile game up, something I think is lacking in a lot of the southern emcees. Even though he stepped himself up lyrically, he still represented firmly where he was from. He didn’t attempt to be a New Yorker or any shit like that, he just progressed. While many people say he “Jacked Jay’s swag”…who hasn’t been influenced by someone else in the game? If Jay’s influence is what got Lil Wayne to go from “The Carter” to “The Carter 2”…more people need to invest in some of that Jay Z swag.

So, I’m like yeah, this shit is dope. I’m telling everyone how dude stepped his game up, and they should give him some respect. I seen he had some mixtape out, so I quickly dled it……WTF? This was the most ignant shit I heard in my life. Truthfully, I don’t remember what the name of the mixtape was, but it dropped soon after Carter 2, or prior to it. When I told my nephew about how dope “The Carter 2” was…he said he liked the aforementioned mixtape more. At this point, I really should have seen what was gonna happen already. I ignored the mixtape. I figured, “Shit, it’s just a mixtape, you drop anything on them shits, I can’t expect everyone to be Papoose” (who I have since stopped fucking with). All of a sudden, Lil Wayne caught fire. Cool, they need more rappers like him to get attention, and less D4Ls. Really, now, I don’t want to hear either of them muthafuckas.

I didn’t know putting music makes you tired and get lazy. While at first I refused to acknowledge dudes mixtapes because they were mixtapes, about 100 mixtapes later, this shit is really getting tired. When dude leaked what was gonna be “The Carter 3” it was all confirmed. This muthafucka gets WAY too much credit. When I listen to “The Carter 2” I still like it, but this shit dude is dropping nowadays is extremely lame. The only thing lamer than his music is the fact people act like this muthafucka is the second coming of Christ…….

“Here’s my funniest joke….I’m broke”
Lil Wayne “Some bullshit ass song of the Carter 3”

This shit is pathetic. IS THIS WHAT YA’LL THINK DOPE IS? Seriously, have you people heard of rappers like Nas, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, and Common? I know you’ve heard of Jay Z, so I know you’ve heard what good music sounds like. Spitting punchlines doesn’t automatically make you tight. I’m not even gonna speak how all of a sudden dude started claiming the “b” and got SUPER street, I’m just focusing on his lyrics alone. I don’t even care about the whole “kissing my father thing either”. Really, kissing another man in the mouth is a homosexual act, but what makes you gay is the fact that you’re attracted sexually to other men. That’s why dudes who get raped in the ass aren’t gay, but dudes who get erections in the locker room but don’t act on it are. Lyric’s alone dude is tired. For every tight punchline off “The Carter 3” there’s 3 whack ones, and besides the punchlines, it REALLY lacks substance. What else is there? Lyrics, substance…reality…he lacks on all fronts. Where the hell is Killer Mike when you need him?

I don’t know, if you see differently, please help me. Maybe there were some hidden tracks somewhere I didn’t see. Maybe this version of “The Carter 3” was a big joke and Wayne is off laughing. “Did it Before” was an extreme waste of a Kanye beat that wasn’t even that tight to begin with. Then dude is battling Jay? Truthfully they both need to retire.

We're not designed to eat meat

I don’t expect everyone to automatically believe everything I say. I mean, after all, I am a blogger for a hip hop website. I’ve seen the hip hop bloggers people were looking at prior to this sites blog section launch, so I don’t expect you to just swallow up everything I say. Especially when what I’m saying is non-common scientific knowledge.  SOOOOooo I figured I’d take a brief moment to kick some knowledge, further explaining something I said the other day, and I’m sure several times prior. For those that didn’t come to a hip hop page to learn anything…don’t worry, around noon I’ll put up some blog about some bullshit rapper you guys would love to read. Although I often step away from the everyday hip hop shit, I could write them shits upside down in my sleep while brushing my teeth if I wanted to.

“In fact, are bodies aren’t designed for eating meat. Look at our teeth, and then look at the teeth of any other meat eater. They’re not the same. Our digestive track is more similar to that of herbivores than carnivores”

-Brillyance

Yea, so I learned that when going to school post high-school, if you go to learn , and not to get a degree…shit’s a lot easier. (and eventually, if you take enough classes, they’ll through in a degree to go along with what you learned) One of my many philosophy teachers tried hammering that Vegan shit into our head. I’m not one to hear something and just follow suit. Shit, I don’t blindly follow a religion, I damn sure ain’t blindly following anything else. However, he hit us with some strong facts which basically stated that our bodies aren’t designed for us to be meat eaters. Check these out:

1.       Carnivores have intestinal tracts only 3 times their body length. This is so that they can get rapidly decaying meat out of their body. Herbivores have intestinal tracts far longer than carnivores. This is because plant foods decay a lot slower, so it doesn’t have to be rushed out the other end. Humans intestinal tract is 12 times the length of our bodies.

2.        Carnivores have hydrochloric acid in their stomachs to digest tough animal muscle, bones, etc. etc. Herbivores have stomach acid 20 times weaker than that of carnivores. Humans have stomach acid 20 times weaker than that of carnivores.

3.       The teeth are another strong point. Carnivores have sharp front teeth to tear flesh, and lack  molar teeth in the back, which are flat to grind food. Humans and herbivores both lack the sharp front teeth, and do have molar teeth in the back of their mouth to grind food. While many people want to bring up the fact we have “canine teeth”, actually, if you look at an actually canine’s “canine teeth” they’re longer and far sharper. In fact, horses (known herbivores) have “canine teeth”

While we do have the ability to eat meat, we also have the ability to eat paper, cardboard, crayons, plastic, etc. etc. Just because it’s possible to eat something doesn’t mean you should or were designed to specifically. While you can actually eat meat, doing so increases the chances of you getting heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and osteoporosis. It’s actually been proven that heard disease can be reversed by eating strictly from a vegan diet.

That’s just some of the facts. I didn't remember this shit off the top of my head, so I got this shit from all over the internet. This dude Micheal Bluejay wrote a piece which includes all of this, and far more (including info on studies that prove vegans have far more stamina. I don’t know what you’d need more stamina for lol…but hey). I would have just done a blog with a link to his page, but truthfully he seems pretty upset and bothered by the fact that people eat meat. I just wanted kick some shit around, he might offend some people. Actually, he seems upset to the point some of his page seems comical. If you’d like, you can check his shit out here. I’m not saying that you have to be vegetarian, shit, I’m not. The only reason I’m gonna stop eating beef and chicken is because of the treatment of the animals. However, don’t let the fact that I ignore the knowledge I poses influence you. I’m just putting it out there so people know it’s true and understand what I’m talking about, what you do with this info is up to you, and really, I don’t care either way. I just wanted to defend what I said cuz I’m defensive and stand offish like that.

Don’t forget, blog about some bullshit rapper dropping around noon. (With no Murs or Dilated Peoples references…or at least I’ll try)

Mike Vick: Vicious Dog Killer...or bitch ass nigga....

When I first spoke on the whole Vick situation I said that the media was mishandling the case. When I spoke on the issue the second time, I said people jumping to conclusions and getting over emotional pre-trial were wrong for doing so. I stand by that. I also said that if they have evidence that proves Vick is guilty he deserves whatever sentence he gets. I stand by that also. I wouldn’t change a word of anything I typed prior to it being announced Mike will be pleading guilty. Since it’s been announced Mike Vick will be pleading guilty I’ve heard two different opinions. One…he’s guilty. Two…he’s not guilty, but he was gonna get found guilty so he plead guilty to take a lesser penalty. Truthfully, I’d be more upset with Mike Vick if opinion number 2 is right. I decided to drop my 999,999,999,999 cents on both sides.

Side 1: “That nigga did that shit”

All that shit I said about people being wrong for jumping the gun…..well it’s no longer jumping the gun. I don’t care what evidence they have or don’t have, dude plead guilty, plain and simple. He’s admitted to the crime of dog fighting, which is illegal. People can argue about how insignificant a dog’s life is all they want, but dog fighting is illegal. If you do something illegal, there’s the possibility of facing punishment. When I light up non-tobacco products I know “I could get a ticket for this shit, or possibly lose my job”. Whether you think it’s wrong or not that it’s illegal, it doesn’t matter, it’s illegal. If you think something shouldn’t be illegal, you go petition, write congressmen, or some shit like that. Once you get caught, it’s too late. Is a human’s life more valuable than that of an animal? Of course it is, but not to the point where you can take a animal’s life for pure entertainment. Or even worse, taking the life of an animal because it refused to entertain.  Now, those are just my moral opinions, so I can’t really force anyone else to feel that way, but the fact remains what dude did was illegal, and him pleading guilty meant that he’s admitting to doing it.

Now, like I said prior, if we take that stance, you have to go a step further. While people have gotten extremely upset because dude tortured some dogs, several other animals are tortured and killed daily here in America, without huge media coverage. Chickens are crammed together in cages so tight that some of them never touch the bottom of the cages. Irritated, they bite at each other, tearing of beaks, legs, and other parts of the other chickens bodies. Why? So farmers can hold more chickens in a smaller area and make more money. Cows are kept in cages so small they can’t move, and only given liquids to produce Veal. Deer and birds are constantly being hunted. (even the vice president hunts) Where is all the media coverage for this stuff? Where’s the public outcry for all of this? Torturing and killing for what reason other than we can? None. Truthfully, contradictory to what the big homie J-23 said, we don’t even have to eat meat (Vegans and Vegetarians are normally healthier than meat eaters. They have been proven less likely to get all sorts of illness meat eaters get also). In fact, are bodies aren’t designed for eating meat. Look at our teeth, and then look at the teeth of any other meat eater. They’re not the same. Our digestive track is more similar to that of herbivores than carnivores, yet animals are tortured so farmers can make more money off meat that we eat that we don’t even have to. Why isn’t everybody bothered by the horrible treatment of other sentient animals like they are for dogs? See here in America, we don’t keep deer or chickens on leashes in our houses.  While the Buddhist have extreme respect for the cows…this is America, and who gives a fuck. We do things however we want, even if it is contradictory.

Truthfully, Mike Vick changed my life. Although I was against jumping to conclusions, I never did agree with dog fighting, and I always stated that if it is proven dude is guilty he’s wrong. When I wrote the second blog and spoke on how people were hypocrites, I realized, I was a hypocrite. Just because I wasn’t  anxious to strangle Vick for being accused, the fact that I’m against dog fighting yet I will still fuck some hot wings up is wrong. Therefore, as decided last week, this is my last month eating beef, and next month is my last month eating chicken. I had already quit eating pork, and I’ll continue eating non-farm raised fish. I’ll miss Carne Asada and hot wings…but if I get a craving for chicken, I can always purchase a naturally raised chicken (for $50 a chicken…geesh) Eating non-farm raised fish and naturally raised chicken is still a contradiction, considering the animal is being killed when it doesn’t have to be, but I’m attempting to role with the lesser of two evils. That in itself will still be a battle, but I’m at least willing to try.

Side 2: “He ain’t do it, the man tried to lynch him, so he had to take the lesser charge”

Truthfully, I hope Vick did do it. If the people proclaiming “He just took the lesser charge because he’d be found guilty even though he’s innocent” are right,I’d be extremely bothered. Not because the trial was bullshit, but because this dude lacks the balls to stand up for himself. Whatever happened to the Ali’s? If you didn’t do something, you stand up like a man. They may find you guilty of it anyway, but if your innocent, you don’t say you did it. Fuck the system, if you ARE innocent, stand up to it, if you get hung, at least you stood for something.  I know people are gonna say “Oh, he don’t wanna be sitting in jail for that long, he gotta make money” etc. etc., and some more bullshit, but people have to stand the fuck up. There’s more important shit in this world than money. I’d definitely hold right’s and freedom above money, and if the people who are in the position to stand up and make a statement don’t, black fans of the Atlanta Falcons have a lot more serious issues than having Joey Harrington at QB. I really wish I could say more for side 2, but the thing is, IF Mike Vick IS innocent, he’s a jelly spine bitch made mouse nigga. I wish I could be in the court room as he walks off in cuffs to tell him to his face. I believe he was treated unfairly because he was black, but him pleading guilty had nothing to do with his color. IF he IS innocent, him pleading guilty is because he’s a coward afraid to take a stand.

Take it how you want it. Pick your side, but you have to fully consider all shit involved. If you think dude did it and your upset he did it not because it’s illegal, but because you think it’s wrong, drop the Chicken McNuggets. If you think he didn’t do it, and he got forced into taking the charge he took, you should be disappointed he didn’t stand up in an effort to stop people being screwed by the system. Shit…even Irv Gotti fought his case, and he’d never last as many seasons in the NFL as Mike Vick. I guess he still has more heat than Vick…IF you think he IS innocent. No matter what side is right, dude is still an embarrassment to the likes of Jim Brown, Ali, and even Warrick Dunn.

For the Gods and Gangsters

While the TIs and YT may run this rap shit (word to Meka) financially, skill wise, the game belongs to the gods. Some of the dopest emcees in the game are 5 percenters. I spoke on this on my first blog ever, and nobody could really argue it….that’s because it’s true. Since the rap game has gotten quite boring as of late, I decided to go back and build upon a thought I already expressed.

“…It ain’t cool to represent  knowledge of self no more/ you can’t talk about the Father or Wallace Deen Muhammad/but talk about crack and muthafuckas is on it/The most innocent people get caught in the middle between real and what’s deemed/entertainment for people/ it’s not, that I’m opposed to how you get that cheddar/ but we know that we gods, so niggas should know better”
Chace Infinite “Seven”

At one point in time, the 5 percenters ruled the streets of New York. No, really, they did. While other cities were burning down due to racial tensions, Clarence 13X (referred to as Allah, or the Father), the founder of the 5 percenters, worked directly with the Mayor of NYC to keep the streets calm. That’s the kind of power the 5 percenters held in the hoods of NY. While riots were popping off in other major metropolises, New York stayed relatively calm. While some would like to focus on stereotypes and extremists from the 5 percenters, they had a much larger positive influence then they did negative. It’s no wonder that a movement as strong as this would influence our culture, which was born in the same area.

First and foremost New York hip hop slang is 5 percenter shit. Kicking knowledge, building, word is bond, and people referring to someone else as “G” (which originally was used to represent ”God”, even though people got shit fucked up and use G to represent gangster now) all originates from 5 percenters. It’s said that even the B Boy stance comes from 5 percenters. It’s how they stood at parties. The 5 percenters originated in the mid 60’s, hip hop was born around the late 60’s early 70’s.When hip hop started popping up at the parties, the 5 percenters were there and left their influence on the culture.

So why are some of the dopest emcees in the game 5 percenters? The five percenters influence on the black youth of NY who were apart of the hip hop culture helped spread their movement across the country. Earlier adopters in the hip hop culture like Rakim and Big Daddy Kane, would not only influence other New Yorkers like Nas and Busta Rhymes, but also people from other areas like Common (while I’m not fully sure Common is a 5 percenter, his heavy 5 percent references, and his performance at a “Show and Prove” pretty much tells me he is) in Chicago and Planet Asia out here in Cali. The 5 percenters heavy belief in the pursuit of knowledge (especially of self) is part of the main reason 5 percent emcees are some of the dopest. While they may occasionally stray, their duty to teach the 85% keeps them spitting bars about shit that matters.

Really, look at who are the emcees who are a part of the nation of gods and earths; Nas, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Planet Asia, Common, AZ, Busta Rhymes, Chace Infinite of Self Sceintific, RZA, Ghostface, GZA…basically the whole Wu Tang Clan. I could go on for days. Add in other emcees who aren’t 5 percenters, but are a part of the NOI, (Brother Ali, Lupe Fiasco, Black Thought, Mos Def, Freeway, Styles P) and you could basically say that most of the dopest emcees of all time come from some form of Muslim background. Basically, people with Islamic backgrounds in general run this rap shit talent wise, but the 5 percenters specifically have a huge influence on the hip hop culture.

For the record, I’m not a 5 percenter, I’m not Islamic, I’m actually agnostic (meaning I believe in god, yet I follow no religion) While I do believe in a lot of the 5 percent teachings, I don’t believe them all, and I just don’t see myself following a religion period. Also, before someone attempts to come in here and say the 5 percenters are racists, and that they believe the black man is god, and the white man is the devil, check yourself. Why they do believe the black man is god, they also believe the black man can be the devil (he can be a part of the 10 percent, the rich, slave makers of the 85%) While they do believe that the white man isn’t god, (due to the fact they believe the black man is the original man, which means that the white man couldn’t have made the black man) they do believe that the white man can be righteous. These are a part of their beliefs, but not all. Don’t come at me with the racists bullshit you learned from propaganda given to you by the bullshit media. If you have a problem with their beliefs, go to NY, they’ll pretty easy to find out there and in Chicago. Speak to them about that. Like I said, I’m not a part of their movement, however, I would put my weak ass flash light cop pay check up on Chace Infinite in a battle with any emcee in the game.

For some real west coast hip hop, go find the “Gods and Gangsters” mixtape from Self Scientific. It’s a compilation of songs done mainly by 5 percenter emcees. Also check “Change” or “The Self Science” by Self Scientific. For more info on the 5 percenters in general, check book entitled "The Five Percenters" written by a man named Micheael Muhammad Knight.

Just like the truth, Bitches and Hoes are out there

“…and don’t tell me about disrespecting a bitch, when females artists are on materialistic shit, take a nigga’s whip, then take a nigga’s chips, like some prostitutes, pussy lips like money clips”
-Rass Kass “Hot Game”

I got a lot of favorites on this site. My favorite blogger other than myself…Meka Soul, my favorite album reviewer….that’s J-23, and my favorite  cat bringing the news…A Plus (I forgot his real name, which he uses on the news articles he drops). A always brings the real relevant news. If I see some shit about politics or just some shit that matters, I’d bet a hundred his name is on the article. A couple weeks back A Plus dropped a couple blogs about women and hip hop. Check those out here and here. I believe the best blogs are the ones that can make you think when you finish reading them.  These two were definitely dope. One of my favorite parts of the blogs was:

On the flip side, that's not to say that the women who do choose to act like they weren't raised by wolves deserve to be disrespected by us men folk. In fact, I believe that those who, by choice or plain ignorance fail to make the distinction between a classy lady and a jump off missed a couple lessons of home training (and perhaps the jump offs did too, so maybe they were made for each other... alas, the Circle of Life)”
-A Plus

Me personally, I can tell the difference between the two. Which leads me to a thought that I’m pretty sure a lot of people feel, but won’t say.

“Bitches and Hoes exist”
-Brillyance

So I had to run over to the west side of Long Beach late one night, like 1 or 2AM. On the way back we stop at a 7-11. As we roll up we noticed a prostitute walking in to the store. How do we know she was a prostitute? If she wasn’t, she had a prostitute’s uniform on. I walk in and get some shit and get in line. She gets in line next to me staring mighty hard. As I pull my card out to pay she says “Oh, I left my card at home, you could’ve bought me something…” I turned around and looked, her eyes were bloodshot red. I laughed it off, but inside I wanted to say “Check this out ho, you of all people should know ain’t shit free. I’m not buying anything your selling, unless your paying me, stop reckless eyeballing me, I’m not a trick”. Now, I could easily punk out and blame Too Short or Grand Theft Auto for these thoughts, but I won’t. I stand by those thoughts. As a pimp named Slickback would say “…I don’t see no lady, this here’s a hoe”. Let’s be honest and real. As much as Al Sharpton and them want to get on rappers like Snoop for using the word ho, we have to be honest, there are hoes out there selling ass. Come out to Long Beach and cruise Pacific Coast Highway at night. Check out Hunter’s Point in the BX. Better yet, go to craigslist and check the erotic services section, ho’s exist. I call a spade a spade, it just is what it is. What's next, I can't call a docter a docter?

“Females are most bitches only few deserve, to hear the knowledge of a king when I speak that word”
-Chace Infinite “Unmatched”

All men are dogs….how many times have we heard that shit? If I had a dollar for every time females have told me all men are bad, or all men cheat, or something of that nature, I’d spend my whole day writing blogs and swimming in my money ala Scrooge Mcduck. Unfortunately I don’t and I don’t know how to swim. (what the hell do I have to learn how to swim for?) The fact of that matter is there’s some dirty ass females out there, and I don’t mean the ones that haven’t taken showers. So one of my peoples starts talking to this female. I’ll just say he doesn’t have any of the crazy stories about females I acquired in my younger pre-relationship days. I warn this cat, DON’T THINK SHIT IS SWEET. He constantly tries to compare what he has with some chick he just met to what I have with my wifey. I attempt to explain to have a real relationship it takes time and effort. You can’t expect things to last forever off top, and you can’t just trust anyone. Dude doesn’t listen, the chick tells him she loves him for the first time during the day, then later on in the same day says she cheated on him after he left the night before. That’s a bitch. I don’t care what Sharpton and his network of whatever the hell they’re supposed to be say, or anybody else for that matter. I’m gonna continue to call females like that bitches and I’m gonna continue to refer to females that sell sex for money, or just exchange sexual favors with the goal of attaining money or material items hoes.

“I call a spade a spade, it just is what it is”
-Jay Z “Blueprint 2”

Back to what Plus said, just because some females act a certain way doesn’t mean they all should be disrespected. I agree fully. However, if a female puts a collar around her neck, you can’t really get mad at the dude pulling the chain attached to it.
