Ever wonder where Jodeci went?

Jodeci's Diary of a Mad Band is one of my favorite lp's ever. It can even be argued that the overtness of it helped to ruin modern R&B. Save the theory that the band stopped mattering so much when hip hop production meshed with vocalists because you still have to put on a stage show with a band. I mean sangers was blowin over breakbeats already so its not like they innovated, shit they was filling New Edition's shoes.

Aside from introducing the world to the talent that is Missy Elliott the big difference on this lp was that them niggas went STRAIGHT for the pussy. It was a marked departure from their first lp's more toned down approache. No mincing words at all, they was tryna fuck your girl and maybe even you. im just sayin that gelled baby hair shit was never really the look now was it? But i digress, the point of this post is to kinda look back and say ill be DAMNED if i didnt see K-Ci and JoJo becoming Cracky and SmokesBlow before my very own eyes.

Okay first off look at the album and the songs in contrast to their first lp. This joint was just fucking laced with drugs and it even sounded a lil drugged up. What drugs it was on can be argued but i mean its safe to say it was definitely smoking some of that good cali and drinkin, ALOT. I definitely wouldnt rule out some of that soft white, not at all man.

Exhibit A: Feenin'back then it was just a dope song/concept. Looking back at the intro to the video and how jodeci ended up it was a glaring sign for help. these niggas wasnt just singin, they was SMOKIN! Snoop, Dre and the whole Deathrow family turned out lil carolina boys out, and hindsight being 20-20, did their departure from Bad Boy and subsequent joining up with Deathrow play any part in that beef at all?

Then the actual performance of the songs themselves are just different. Granted artists grow and they were going thru the roof with it, still its something different about it. I mean the playful vamping that took place at the end of the songs on Forever My Lady is replaced with the rambling vamp that closes Cry for You. Seriously go listen to that shit again, maybe im buggin but they sound drunk on that shit. Granted this is one of my favorite albums to ever be recorded hands down it still just kinda screams "BITCH! STAY OFF THAT BLOW!" I like how K-Ci and JoJo stepped away from Jodeci to clean their image up and make top 40 hits only to dissappear. Crack binge? lol

So this youtube clip should come as no surprise to anyone who likes Jodeci. Well i mean the fact that JoJo sounds HORRIBLE should be surprising but i know that nigga used to chain smoke newports so i guess it aint THAT surprising. I present to you Jodeci in 2008 well K-Ci and JoJo, it aint Jodeci without Devante. What the fuck did Dalvin do anyway?

Where did THIS group go man?!?!?!? Seriously did yall see that shit? The expired gyrating that nigga was doin? I mean for real man the niggas sound and look like deacons in a baptist church. Nobody can stay young forever (except Peter Pan and R.Kelly) and I guess our beloved Carolina Boys missed the memo. Remember the Come and Talk To Me Remix?

this joint is arguably better than the freekin you remix, well at least in my opinion it is. son... they had on fucking sheer track suits! now this was before the whole deathrow/tyrone biggums phase but i just threw it in for the track suits. File this under legacies ruined.
