Michel Gondry: Kanye knew what was up.

while surfing the internets as i usually do for things i bumped into this very short clip:

while a few of you probably know him from directing this:

or if you like avant garde artsy fartsy film you would know him from this:

and if you only watch music videos you would remember that our favorite avante garde artist used him for this clip:

and if you know his work via that video or dave chappelle's block party thats cool, but take some time to check out his other clips. the guy does some tremendous work with non hip hop artists. ive been up on him since i saw his clip for bjork's human behavior but I still dont feel like ppl are fully aware of the creative mind that is amongst them. So i figured id just post up a few of my favorite clips

okay ill stop youtubing you to death. I just wanted to shed some light on a guys whose work i truely admire. I'd love to work with him one day and think i should maybe actively pursue that. I dont see too many cats pushing the boundaries for videos in hip hop and thats why kanye is kinda lauded by mass media, because he does low brow high art so well.

if anybody replies to this id be amazed lol

Lets pick apart Kanye's Graduation tracklist

First off you cant believe everything you read on the internet, especially wikipedia. Shit i could go change this tracklist if i wanted and for the record it looked different on saturday night. It didnt have the Eddie Murphy remake for one (at least not that i remember) but then again I was also very drunk when i looked at this the first time. Now on to the business

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graduation_%28album%29#Confirmed_Tracks

"Can't Tell Me Nothing" (Produced by Kanye West, co-produced by DJ Toomp)
- This is true and you all have been hating on this one since the snippet. Which brings me to mention the nigga had yall talking about a snippet, even the haters you were hating on a snippet. Think about that one right there for a second....

"Stronger" Contains a sample of "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" by Daft Punk
- You can find this song on youtube. I saw it there like 2 weeks ago when he debuted it at some DJ Atrack performance. This song exists.

"Homecoming"
(featuring Chris Martin)
- I heard about this song a while ago, well i heard that they were collaborating so I'm willing to wager this is real.

"Fly Like a Swan"
(featuring Bjork)
- This could be real, I mean after all Timberland did her first single so she aint above fucking with rap. I could see ye doin this tho, especially if he samplin Daft Punk on this album. Then again those pesky editors could have did this to be funny. Think about it, remember Bjork's red carpet swandress fauxpax? Yeah. I mean do swan's even fly? Or is this a pun on the fact that her dress was not fly at all, and if its the latter you really think she would be party to that? Who knows, who knows...

"The Glory"

- Dont know anything about this song, maybe its got Morgan Freeman on it. Guffaw...

"Purple Hearts"
(featuring Joe Smith)
- Maybe im just in the dark but who is Joe Smith? I tried google searching him and got this picture so i stopped, immediately.

"
Bittersweet"
(featuring John Mayer & Jessica Simpson)
- Ye is good for recycling older demos. He did it with Hey Mama on Late Registration and he did it with a gang of verses on College Dropout (the whole miracles whips line/verse is on like 3 different songs that didnt make the lp) i think the dude just is a perfectionist and dont wanna waste material but thats just me. I have heard this song, just not with Jessica Simpson on it and again i dont think having her sing on a song is that far fetched for him. Based on the version of the song that I heard she is gonna have to save the song and I dont think she is capable of doing that. Her name looks like shock value but she aint that bad of a singer tho for real.

"Can't Keep Me Winnin"
(featuring Ludacris, Jay-Z, & Dr. Dre)
- Looks good on paper, no real reason why it couldnt happen since he has worked with everyone but Dre but again this almost looks too high powered to be true. Then again Black Republican was mythical before we heard it. But is it just me or does Jay-Z's name not evoke the OH SHIT SON JIGGA GONNA BE ON IT fervor that it did since Kingdom Come dropped? Even his little pop up here and there post black album verses were kinda exciting, kinda.

"My Girl Wants To"
(featuring Eddie Murphy) Contains a sample of "Party All the Time" by Eddie Murphy
- This song is not real, can't be. I refuse to believe it is for personal reasons and if it is on the LP i would like my crow fried like chicken.

"Unknown"
(featuring T-Pain)
- Don't know if this is real but im sayin, T-Pain maybe be a love sick drunkard simp but that nigga knows how to make a jam. Buy you a drank is the new summer anthem and rightfully so. Maybe Kanye will rap thru the (vo)'coder, yeah maybe its like thru the wire part 2 but instead of chaka kahn its got t pain doin the hooks.. Im kidding but he has enough personality and sense of humor to pull that shit off if he chose to. Guess we'll just have to wait and see if this is real.

"Summer of Hip Hop"
(Produced by Just Blaze) Contains a sample of "Somebody, Somewhere, in Summertime" by Simple Minds
- No complaints or criticisms here, just baited breath. Blaze always delivers

"Dispose of You"

- No idea if this is real or fake but hey its a nice title.

"On the Cover of Vogue"
Contains a sample of "Vogue" by Madonna
- PLEASE LET THIS BE FAKE!! My guess is that Beanie Sigel went to the wiki and added this title on some "ye wears driving shoes, naah naah nah naaaaaaaah naaaaaaaaaah" shit. (did yall see Beans attack Ye and Rell on that youtube clip? jewelryman take it away!) This cant be real. Again if I'm wront 2 piece crow and a biscuit.

"Real Life Changes Everything"
(featuring Consequence & Q-Tip) (Produced by Pete Rock)
- This looks real. And based on the title and guest appearances looks like it would be pretty interesting. I mean they all got something to say about real life changing everything.

"Two Places"
(featuring Nas & Ghostface)
- Again, nothing to say about this one. If its real im just waiting to hear it.

"Invincible"
Contains a sample of "Kid Charlemagne" by Steely Dan
- Probably real.

I am a excited for the album. We dont get many event albums anymore at all because HipHop's heroes are being replaced by disposable cut and paste single based artists. I mean regardless to your feelings on if Hip Hop is dead or not you gotta agree, the art of making the album is dead as fuck and nobody is taking chances with they shit anymore. They are all just kinda vying for viacom adspace.
