» Bio: I am a writer and a mother (not in that order). Big fan of art in various forms. Firm believer that nothing beats Ciroc vodka and good conversation. (i've loved ciroc for yrs...WAY b4 Diddy's ads)
I have never seen more gluttony and wastefulness than in the great "sport" of competitive food eating. First of all...it's NOT a sport. I've witnessed my boyfriend and his friends; they can beat most of those guys on an average night at the buffet (shout out to Big Rube, South, and Bowden) Plus, the commentary on this shit is INSANE...they keep talking about the "valor" it took the lil asian man, Kobayashi to compete because he had a sprained jaw from "training". HA!.... Towards the end (which went to a "nail-biting" judges desicion), the commentator declared if Chesnut (an American)beat Kobayashi, it would be "the greatest moment in the history of american sports" *dies* They're acting as if it's some huge, meaninful undertaking. It's FOOD, people...
Which brings me to my second point.... Have these people forgotton that there are starving nations around the world?? This is just as much of a waste of food as the "Tomatina" in Spain during which they have a city-wide tomato fight with literally hundreds of TONS of tomatos....by the end of the day people can swim in the streets
why not donate the food to starving children in africa or even...
blah.
