The DEFinition of Design

For the HIP HOP Heads pt.2

Hey ladies and gents, the racist wigger is back! ... or something? What’s he gonna talk about? Is it gonna be some bullshit on white bitches that go to jail while hilarious ones make fun of them? Nope. It’s time for the second installment of “For the HIP HOP Heads”.

I know I promised I’d try and keep this going weekly (shout out to BRILL holding down the west!) but HipHopDX is growing people! And when DX grows, Shake gets more work. I’m trying my best to keep my sides of the ship running strong. And honestly I think I am, yep … I’m feeling myself right now.

Part one brought the likes of Royce, Joell Ortiz and Crooked I to light. Before getting into more artists I want to add more shit about Crooked I.

Since the first installment Crook has STILL been killin freestyles EVERY single Wednesday for this Hip Hop Weekly series. Today marks week 12. Three months without a single drop in quality. He’s ran through beats from some of the best: Timbaland (Fab’s Make Me Better), Just Blaze (Juelz’ 2nd Coming), Premier (Gangstarr’s You Know My Steez) and so forth. The man has showed enough versatility to prove he deserves shine. And while I’m typing this I’m reminded that Just Blaze himself just admitted he’d been sleepin on Crook, until now … he heard a joint and really enjoyed it!

Oh yes, and for the people who check the blogs on a regular basis would have noticed Crook has his own running as well. So far the two he has done have caused crazy amounts of shit (word to Meka). Part 2 of his top 10 is coming soon, be on the look out!

Up next is a B-More born and raised emcee, Salim. Opening up for the likes of Slick Rick, Method Man and Black Sheep (all within this year), Salim and his live band (The Music Lovers) have stunned crowds who were expecting below average opening acts. I have yet to see them live, but youtube is a lovely tool. Being the HUGE fan of The Roots that I am, it’s nice to see (and hear) more groups doing the live instrumentation (and doing it right).

I came across Salim’s album, Hip Hop Revisited ONLY because I liked the cover. I’m a sucker for artwork. Makes sense, as I design myself…go figure. But I’m glad I did, music like this takes me to a different level that’s nice to visit from time to time.

Moving across the country we end up in Seattle. With a group (again, I came across based off artwork) called Dyme Def. Think classic Hip Hop with a mixture of new school swagger. And swagger is EXACTLY what these dudes spew in the booth [pause]. Their album, Space Music is entirely produced by Bean One, allowing the trio of emcees to blend the best of the old and new.

The sound is reminiscent of Outkast and The Clipse as much as The Treacherous Three. I can keep going on about how dope this music is, but check out the MySpace and make a decision based off your own thoughts. I do however suggest you check out Fresh2Def (whether through their MySpace or this little download link.)

The last installment didn’t garnish a huge audience as the blog section was just starting to pop off on DX. Hopefully the new found group it’s pulled will lead to more people checking out these artists. Stay tuned.

Uncle Murda vs Papoose

Well, here we go another entry from the “racist fuckin wigger who is a disgrace to hip hop for posting about Paris Hilton, I fuckin hate your guts you are so racist!!!!!!!” Or something like that?

Fuck it. You want hip hop? Here we’ll drop some information on some of your so called “savior of hip hop” Papoose. (now before the comments saying “YO THAT AINT MY FAVORITE RAPPER YOU BITCH ASS RACIST!” take time out and remember I said SOME of you. Sheeesh it’s amazing how riled up people get on the internet and take the time out to express that hatred through 872051825 posts. Whatever though.

Word is Uncle Murda (any idea what he rhymes about?) got snuffed by a member from Papoose’s camp for talking shit to one of Pap’s people a few days prior. Mr. Murda was walking out a NY club on 13th St. and 10th Ave and was immediately popped in the face (twice). Auntie Caregiver then allegedly ran off avoiding the cameras that had been rolling (I expect a video on the next Smach DVD with Pap and 18708917502 of his groupies soon).

Well before the video of the altercation has a chance to surface, Murda has issued this in response …

Also, I really don’t give a shit what happened, but I know a lot of people get up in arms for this stuff. So … enjoy.

Sarah Silverman vs. Paris Hilton

"ZOMG WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT!?!?! GET THIS WACK SHIT OUTTA HERE! THIS AINT HIPHOP!"
-- neither are you, you Lil Wayne nut hugger. Fuck off and go yank on The Game's testee's a bit, you ain't hip hop either. There's a reason we have a thing called "titles" it's so people don't need to click on shit if they don't want to!

"FIRST BITCHEZ!!!!+1"
-- congrats, how's life without women?

"YO PARIS IS ALLLRIGHT BUT ID FUCK THE SHIT OUT OF HER, ID BEAT THAT ALL NIGHT"
-- no, no you wouldn't. Despite what you absent minded fucks think, Paris would shoot you down. Sorry to break it to you like that, but the "yo yo yo baby yo" shit doesn't work.

Alright, now that I got the responses to the inevitable future comments for this blog, check it. Last night was the MTV Movie Awards (yes, I watched them). Sarah Silverman was the host (if you don't know her, google or something. hilarious).

Anyways, the intro to the awards is a little stand up routine and all I got to say for the rest of this blog is ... HAHAHA.

The look on Paris' face is priceless. Thank you Sarah...thank you!
