Random Thoughts on a Monday Afternoon

Hey kids, been a while since I've got my weblog on but I'm back in the binary. I apologize if you care to hear my thoughts, but I've been too busy. Though I guess that's not an excuse, cause I'm hella busy today...I'm just compelled (not by Christ), to take note of a few things happening in the hip hop world.

Did y'all read my Jay-Z American Gangster review? No? Then fuck you. How about my Jay-Z editorial? No? Fuck you too. High fives all around to those who did. Been a lot of Hov on the mind of late, clearly. Given how many people will read that review, I had to make sure I had it right in my head. 40 spins of the album? Yeah about that...I've listened to it A LOT. It's only gotten better with marination...

Who has heard this Cool Kids EP Totally Flossed Out? If you haven't heard it, you lost. The shit is straight up ridiculous. Steal it, download it, beat up your grandmother to get some money and buy it. I don't know how to call it, its like the simple southern aesthetic mixed with the 80's boom bap. Whatever you wanna call it, I haven't been able to stop playing it...

Another album getting a lot of my attention? Statik Selektah's Spell My Name Right. I shouldn't have to say anything to get you to listen to it, just look at the tracklist! It's an east coast head's wet dream. Review coming soon on that one...

I'd also like to welcome the return of vicious diss tracks. First this Joe Budden and Ransom beef has provided some great material, particularly Joe's first response. For real, does that dude just sit at a computer with a mic in hand. He responded within like 54 seconds of Ransom talking greasy. Then there is this Royce Da 5'9" and Mistah F.A.B. battle. Hotdamn, Royce hurt'em. No doubt, Fab got at them during the freestyle battle but Royce just carved him up with Who Got Bodied? Dude just goes off for how long? 6 or 7 minutes? Jeebus. He did D12 like that too, Royce does some serious damage when someone pisses him off. An awful lot like that white guy he came up under huh? Given their ability and ammunition against one another, I would literally pay to hear what happens when bad meets evil.
