Dipset co-signed, so get money kids!

SO THESE CATS COURTNEY AND CHRIS BROWN ARE THE EPITOME OF WHAT NYC IS ALL ABOUT.  TWO BROTHERS, WHO DROPPED OUT OF COLLEGE TO PERSUE THEIR DREAMS.  SINCE THE MAJORITY OF YOU WERE SLEEP WHEN I INTERVIEWED THEM ON DXSTYLE, I DECIDED TO GIVE YOU A TASTE OF THEIR NEW TRAILER, THE INTERVIEW AND A SNEAK PEEK INTO "FREESTYLE ROLLING." B. Unique clothing is available online and at your local dope boutiques and be checkin' out for the film.  Both kids love Hip Hop, but they've expanded their perspectives, invested in their dreams and invested in the culture. OH AND THEY'RE CONNECTED TO DIPSET AND DIPSKATE.

FROM THE ARCHIVES, STORY OF THE WEEK:

The Brown Brothers Want You to |B.|Unique.
Monday, April 30, 2007
By Dominque "A.H.L.O.T." Howse

It's 1850 New York City, and the Brooks Brothers shocked the fashion industry with the "ready to wear" suit. Today, there are over 170 stores in the United States and 70 throughout the rest of the globe. The only difference between the Brooks Brothers and the Brown Brothers is what we refer to as a "timeline".

|B.|Unique & Co. is an international brand designed to invade the fashion world with its unique approach, subliminal messages and bold designs, initially made for "Freestyle Rollers." Courtney and Chris Brown (23 and 19,) took the time out to talk about being entrepreneurs, their affiliation with Dipset and the importance of understanding exploration.

DXStyle: Tell us a little bit about Chris Brown, Courtney Brown and |B.|Unique Clothing.

Courtney: It's Chris Brown, not the singer but the other Chris Brown. Basically, we're the "Brown Brothers" and we started |B|Unique clothing around five years ago. It started as a line within the skate culture. We've been pretty much skating half our lives, so we wanted to create a clothing line that portrayed our lives correctly. We wanted to add the creativity element, that originality aspect; we wanted to create a clothing line and make a name that symbolized that; that's where |B.|Unique came from. |B.|Unique & Co. really captivated that individuality about skating and the culture…now it's actually transcending into more. Now, people who are in different genres, not just skaters, but from all walks of life -- people who are into music, art, emcees…I feel like I'm talking too much, just cut me off [laughs].

DXStyle: Nah, you're good [laughs].

Courtney: Chris and myself are half Jamaican half British so we have a weird kinda' background. We have a very eclectic background being that we listen to so many different genres of music…|B.|Unique is not just one thing, it's not Hip-Hop it's not Rock, it's a very worldly eclectic view to who you are.

DXStyle: Cool. The fashion aspect of |B.|Unique is only one aspect of the company. Tell us about your affiliation with film, production and graphic design?

Courtney: That's actually Chris. Chris did a flip skate thing when he was 14 and he's always been on the more creative side. I'm more of the business aspect…he's been doing videos pretty much since birth…I don't know how we got into it, but I know he took off into the creative side and I took off into the business side.

DXStyle: What's your affiliation with Dipskate and Dipset?

Courtney: Before this whole Dipskate thing had started, Chris and I had put together a documentary called "Know Difference." It was about the lifestyle behind skating and Pro Skaters like Ramelle Knight, Calvin Sayles and other skaters in the industry. But now it's called "Freestyle Rolling." A part of the film was about Hip-Hop music and other music that influenced sub cultures like skating, so we filmed a segment with Jim Jones and he really wanted to know more about what was going on and what we could accomplish with it. He expressed his interest in working with us and we pretty much formed Dipskate with a couple of our guys, and that's how it pretty much started. It was the skills that got everything started and sparked a little interest.

DXStyle: Explain the slogan or the phrase, "|B.|Unique is the backbone of individuality."

Courtney: Our logo is comprised of the absolute signs in math, which explains the two lines that surround the "B." Pretty much what that means is like, for an example, you have absolute signs and absolute negative signs, we applied that to the real world and that's how we came up with the name. With that said, if people think negative about you only you know your equal value. For |B.|Unique, that's where the symbol and everything kind of came together.

DXStyle: That's Funky, that's hot! Since you're into mathematics, what percentage of the streets went into your brand?

Courtney: That's a good question [Laughs]. Damn, you really caught me with that one. Wow, I can't even call that one. Put a puzzle face sign.

DXStyle: O.k., that's fine [laughs]. We can move on.

Courtney: You get points for that one [laughs].

DXStyle: If you could create an analogy between your clothing and any emcee whom would it be and why?

Courtney: Wow, o.k. This is really interesting. These are some really good questions. I would say Jay- Z and Pink Floyd. We're going to roll with that...

Chris: ...Because they originated their genres and leave an impact on what they do. They represent and those guys opened the doors.
