What if 9/11 was 50 VS. Wayne?

For all the people who might not know, I attend school in Jackson, MS.  On campus, I'm the "go-to girl" for Hip Hop debates and heated arguments about who's the best emcee or who had the best this or that.  The other day, I decided to chop it up with my fellow peers from New Orleans, LA.  You probably remember one of them from a previous video I posted at my "Kanye VS. 50" party.  Anyway, all three of them are really into Hip Hop.

We began to talk about the "hottest rapper in the game."  Not the best rapper, but the emcee with the most buzz. I placed my vote for Mr. West.  The reason being is because, his album is the biggest Hip Hop album in the country, where ever you turn he's there.  He's done like three world tours in the last two years and the album is at least 4.5 if not a classic (in my mind).  He made it to ABC's Nightline, people! He was on SNL... Excuse me, but that's major!

My peers didn't feel me. The guys began to explain to me why Weezy F. was the hottest rapper in the game.

Of course, that argument could have passed if this was prior to Sep. 11th.  I can't deny, that Wayne was huge prior to the dropping of "Graduation."  All they could say was, "He's on everybody's sh*t!"  Which is the same reasoning that the  I used prior to Sep. 11th argument .  Let's face it though.  Hip Hop isn't just the inner city streets throughout the U.S.  This culture is global.  Lil Wayne, ain't that dude in Moscow.  It's just not real.  Yes, he's hot in the streets, as well as underground, but has he really made a major IMPACT?  Think about it.  He hasn't displayed the "SUPERSTAR" personality yet.

I can't take anything away from the brotha, but he's not bigger than Kanye West.  Period.

So, the argument didn't end there.  They said, the only reason people bought Kanye's album was to go against 50 Cent.  They claim nobody wanted to see 50 win.  Ok, that's a valid argument, but I hit them back with this...if Wayne and 50 would have dropped the same day, would the people pick Wayne over 50?  The answer is NO.

They continued to say "Yes, the people would have.  A matter of fact, they would have picked Wayne over Kanye if they would have dropped on the same day."

Once again, I dazed into the parking lot, looking puzzled and thought, "What the hell happened to keeping it real?" I think the dudes, were so down to ride with Wayne, they lied.  Lol.  I like Wayne, 50 and Ye, but c'mon.  50 and Wayne on the same day? 50 would have killed it.  Just for the simple fact, 50 is a STAR and Wayne is just a tight rapper.

So, I had to put my money up...that Wayne will not and I repeat WILL NOT, push the numbers Kanye did in the first week.  He will barely hit 50's.  You wanna know why?  There's no anticipation.  He's flooding the streets with tracks, that people download.  Who pays to hear Lil' Wayne? Not many.  Nobody will rush to the store to get Lil Wayne on December whatever, unless he stops putting out tracks everyday.

Oh yeah, and branch off from his daddy and become the SUPERSTAR he needs to be...to be a  Jay-Z, Kanye, 50 or Pac.  You have to be your own man.

Shout to Wayne, I wish him the best of luck...maybe Jay and Wayne will come out the same day...or even Nas. The odds are against him.  Nobody cares if you can spit...they will download all the Papoose, Canibus and Lox sh*t they cane get their hands on...for FREE 99.  Wayne has to set up a relationship with the people to force them to buy...but why would I and he's dropping singles like raindrops?

A trip to south side Jamaica Queens

A while back while I was still in NYC, I  decided to go to South Side Jamaica Queens in search of 50's neighborhood.  Since, I've been in the studio with G.O.O.D. Music and felt the energy over there, I wanted to do the same with G-Unit.  The only way I knew how, was going straight to the streets.  Shout out to all the good people in Queens.  It was cool anyway... seeing the neighborhood of one of the biggest rappers (out).

While I  was there, I  also decided to stop through a barbeque, thrown by the Fuertado brothers, Lance and Todd.  If you don't know, these two brothers were known in the 80's and 90's as huge kingpins in the underground drug world.  They've now shifted their lives and became people who give back to the hood.  For more info on them go to : http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=89462490 . A lot of cool people, kids and families came together. That's cool.  I wish people could throw stuff like that prior to selling drugs and getting locked up <<< a little food for thought.  IT'S LIKE "LET'S SELL CRACK TO THE PARENTS AND 5 years later, FEED THE KIDS TURKEY'S ON THANKSGIVING." Anyway, the barbeque was good and it wasn't a shock that nobody wanted to talk about Curtis.

Come to discover they don't have such a great history with Curtis. It's all good, moving right along.  I also stopped through historical Hip Hop spots like the spot Wu-tang shot "Ice Cream," and dope cd shops.  I also ran across Shea Davis from Smack DVD and Bonds.  Isaiah Stokes was also around, promoting his album sponsored by Moet Hennessy.  The people from Don Diva were also in the place to be.

THE PONIT IS THIS: Nobody wanted to talk about 50, who was over 30. Young people were feeling him, but they were'nt feeling the fact that I wanted to know about their neighborhood spokesperson. Word of mouth, they want him to give back to the hood.

SHOUT OUT TO QUEENS AND 50 CENT. stay focused, fresh and free! REMEMBER EVERY HOODS THE SAME.

50 and Kanye onstage @ Madison Square Garden!

I USUALLY DON'T DO THIS... BUT SHOUT OUT TO MY DUDE AND HIS BLOGSPOT. DREW'S ON TOP OF HIS SHYT. BUT YEAH, FOR ALL YOU DUDES WRAPPED UP IN THE BEEF...HERE'S SOMETHING FOR THAT ASS.  PEEP THE PHOTOS AND WORD OF MOUTH, 50 HE THREW UP THE ROC.  LOL. Remember Kanye drops September 11th, as well as 50. PEACE!

This year’s ScreamFest show started off like every other: heartthrobs Lloyd, T-Pain, and Young Joc performed their most recent hits, hyping the crowd up for performances by headliners Ciara and T.I. Here’s when it got interesting: Ciara–surprise, suprise–brought 50 Cent out to perform her new single, “Can’t Leave Him Alone”. The crowd went insane. Then 50 pulled the unexpected: he brought the majority of the G-Unit Fam out on stage, including Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, and Mobb Deep. They all performed 50’s street smash “I Get Money”.

At that point, the crowd was bugging out with excitement. G-Unit members then left the stage, but 50 stayed on. Then T.I. comes back to perform a new song off his album, “Watch What You Say To Me”. The track features Jay-Z, and you guessed it–the Jigga man came out to spit his verse. Jay looked at 50 and proclaimed, “No worries. It’s all good.” They shook hands.

Then the completely unexpected happened. Kanye West ran on stage and the DJ played “Can’t Tell Me Nothing”. The energy was INSANE. Even 50, who has been in the news for the past few weeks calling out Kanye and several other hip-hop heads, found himself bumping his head to the joint. During the song, Diddy and Swizz Beatz both came out on stage to perform with ‘Ye.

Diddy put his arms around ‘Ye and 50 as Swizz Beatz performed “Money In The Bank”. And when you thought it couldn’t get any crazier, 50 Cent then threw up the ROC sign. WHAT?!!!!! We all know about the Kanye and 50 beefing. Could this be 50’s way of surrendering to ‘Ye after making his ridiculous promise…" -My dude, DREW.
